A Russian-language gymnasium in Vienna for bilingual children
We help children read, write, speak and think confidently in Russian while staying connected to culture and receiving a well-rounded education.
For more than 10 years, we have been creating a place where Russian becomes part of a child’s life
For more than 10 years, we have been creating a place where Russian becomes part of a child’s life.
In 2014, the Russian-language gymnasium in Vienna was born from one simple but very important idea: children growing up far from a Russian-speaking environment should not lose their native language, culture and connection with family.
This story did not begin thanks to me alone.
I, Tatiana D. Dzhayani, a graduate of the Department of Slavic Studies at the University of Vienna, a specialist in child bilingualism and a mother of three, dreamed of creating a place where children could preserve Russian and come to love it. From the very beginning, caring teachers and like-minded parents — mothers and fathers who shared this dream — stood beside me. Thanks to our shared love for children and the Russian language, a small school grew into one of the largest Russian-language educational centres in Austria.
Today:
✨ More than 2,000 children have become students of our gymnasium.
✨ Three branches operate in Vienna.
✨ Many families already trust us with their second and even third child.
But the most valuable thing for us is not the numbers.
We believe that a native language is not just a subject. It is a feeling of home, a connection with family, confidence and an understanding of one’s roots. It is the opportunity to speak freely with grandparents, read favourite books in the original language and preserve part of one’s own history.
That is why Russian lives with us not only in lessons. We celebrate holidays, stage performances, take part in olympiads, create projects, read, play and together open the rich world of Russian culture to children.
We teach bilingual children using modern programmes that combine the best international practices, our teachers’ experience and FGOS requirements. When a child needs additional speech support, specialists from our speech therapy centre are close by.
Over 12 years, we have understood that the school’s main achievement is not the number of branches or students. It is children who speak Russian with pleasure. It is families who trust us with what is most precious. It is caring teachers who put their knowledge, love and heart into children every day.
Thank you to every child, every family and every teacher who has been walking this path with us for 12 years. Many more happy stories are ahead.

Russian becomes the language of learning, communication and discovery
It is important for us to develop Russian as one of the child’s native languages, one they can freely use throughout life.
Our goal is to teach children to communicate, write, read and think in Russian, while also giving them a broad and well-rounded education.

Children grow in Europe while keeping confident Russian
Child bilingualism means that a child uses two languages without the languages interfering with each other.
Our education helps students grow into true bilinguals. This supports their future life and career, helps successful integration into European life and makes their own world richer.
speaks and reads without fear.
keeps family language in Europe.

A part-time format that fits family life
Classes take place once a week: on weekday afternoons or Saturdays.
This keeps learning systematic without overloading children who already attend their main Austrian school.

Clubs and courses are an essential part of a child’s life
The school of creative and intellectual development offers courses for well-rounded growth and preparation for the modern world.
Children explore history, achievements in science and technology, Russian culture, music, singing, instruments, programming, robotics, web pages, drawing, architecture, chess, cooking, etiquette and acting — in a playful and useful way with peers.

Experienced teachers and a constantly updated methodology
Classes are taught by experienced teachers: primary school teachers, subject teachers and educators with higher Russian education.
Each teacher is a specialist in their field. We follow new Russian methods and textbooks, exchange experience with other European schools, and keep the teaching base up to date.
Individual placement
Groups are chosen according to age, Russian level and academic preparation.
Living materials
Learning resources are reviewed and updated so lessons remain relevant.
Safe atmosphere
Small groups help children speak freely and learn without fear of mistakes.
Helping children love Russian and grow confidently in multilingual Europe
Our mission is to create a welcoming learning environment where Russian becomes a language of thinking, communication, literature, discovery and creativity.
Our task is to give children more than language: knowledge, confidence, friends and a lasting connection to family culture.
